Who We Are

The staff of the Dublin North West Childcare Resource Centre (DNWCRC) have a number of years of both personal and professional experience in the area of childcare. We have a particular local knowledge and interest in the Dublin North West region as we have all lived and worked in this area for a number of years. Together, we have over 30 years working in this field and many many years living in the Dublin North West area.

Lisa, Ann and Esther took up their posts it the resource centre in Jan 2005. The Ballymun Partnership employ the staff as contracted by the Dublin City Childcare Committee. The DNWCRC is steered by an advisory group whose membership includes: Declan Dunne, CEO Ballymun Partnership; Nirn Coghlan, Ballymun Partnerships Childcare co-ordinator; Breda Kenny, Finglas/Cabra Childcare Co-ordinator, Carmel Murrin, Pre-school Inspector HSE and Lisa Walsh, Manager, DNWCRC.

Biographies:

Lisa Walsh (Manager) is a professionally qualified Social Worker (BSS NQSW) as educated in Trinity College Dublin as a mature student. Lisa has worked voluntarily and professionally in many areas of childcare for the last 11 years. She has worked extensively with children, families, drug users and agencies in this time. She has experience in the area of Child Protection having worked and studied in the HSE Community Care areas 7 and 8; in Dublin City Councils Housing welfare Section; as a Medical Social Worker in Beaumont Hospital; in the Child and Family Psychiatry; in the Womens refuge in Rathmines and as an Addiction Worker in a voluntary 3 children aged 1, 3 and 6 years. Lisa manages all operations within the resource centre.

Esther Byrne (Information Officer) has professional experience in working in childcare for seven years having both completed childcare training and by working in Busy Bees Crche in Donaghmede, the Womens Resource Centre creche in Ballymun and an outreach Crche and summer camp in the Finglas Childcare Service in this time. Esther is from Ballymun and is the mother of a 7 year old boy. Since starting in the Dublin North West Childcare Resource Centre Esther has upskilled her information Technology skills by completing training in Office skills and the ECDL computer training. Esther has a particular interest and skill in supporting people who are interested in childcare training and in working with parents.

Ann Doyle (Information Officer) has worked in the area of childcare for 10 years as a Childcare worker and as a homebased Childminder. Ann also worked as a childcare worker and an Acting supervisor in the Womens Resource Centre in Ballymun and attended Killester college to complete the Fetac Level 2 in Childcare. Ann grew up in Finglas and moved to Ballymun when she started her family. She is a Mother of 8 Children and 7 grandchildren. Ann has updated her skills since working in the DNWCRC by completing the following courses: Computers/Office Skills, Quality Awareness Training, Child Development & Behavioural Problems and the Power of Play. Ann has an active role in supporting the DNWCRC Childminding Initiative and in working with parents.

Management Team

The DNWCRC staff is employed by Ballymun Partnership through funding provided by the Dublin City Childcare Committee under the Childcare Investment Programme 2006-2010. A Childminding Advisory Officer ( to be appointed ) will be a member of the resource centre team and will be managed by the DNWCRC manager and employed by Ballymun Partnership.
