Sheila Sheridan began her career as a primary school teacher and progressed into pre-school education, both in the private and community spheres. She completed a Masters degree in Womens Studies in TCD and was appointed Research Associate by the Centre when she completed her degree. She has worked in social research and consultancy for the last ten years. Her company, Isis Research, recommended policy on behalf of the National Womens Council for establishing a national childcare strategy (Caring for All Our Futures), and she has also completed research for Focus Ireland, Dublin City Council and the Larkin Unemployed Centre, among others.
Sheila has a diploma in Group Facilitation Skills, which she put to good use when she ran the Ballybough Womens Group for a number of years. She was Womens Officer in the Larkin Unemployed Centre, as well as establishing and managing their community crche, and ran parenting classes and return-to-education courses in the Ballybough/North Strand area.
Sheila started working within the Ballymun Partnership in 2005, managing the Childcare Resource Centre while the manager, Lisa Walsh, was on maternity leave. As part of her role in the Resource Centre, she delivered training for childminders in the North West area. She is very happy to be back in the Partnership, in her new position of Childminding Advisor.
