What we do

Partnership participatory structure: Moving from the Partnership to a partnership
Ensuring that the way in which we approach and review our work, as an organisation is inclusive, participative and responsive. i.e. encourage key partners around the Board, facilitate working groups on key issues, set up 'client' focus groups, establish accountable research & performance monitoring systems, create space for policy to develop and influence local and national decisions.

Integrated version of Ballymun
Encouraging co-ordination on wider decisions affecting people's lives, which means encouraging renewed responsibility among agencies for their activities at a local level and encouraging people to take an active part in the decision-making processes that exist in their area.

Liason and communications with the wider community
Ensuring that people are aware of the Action Plan, continuously informed of chances to participate in key decisions and opportunities and that they have a self-sufficient mechanism and the ability to feed into the ongoing development of the plan themselves, i.e. a series of time-tabled and continuous events for people to come together throughout the year to inform us of how we're doing and how effective actions are for people locally, along with the development of our own and the local community & voluntary sector's systems to communicate more effectively with each other.

A strategy for the provision of community facilities in the renewal of Ballymun
Ensuring that a consultative process for community facilities in the developing new facilities is agreed among a representative body of people living and working in the community, along with a plan for delivering new buildings. i.e. construction, management and maintenance of the new facilities in the long term.

We recognise that a key challenge for Ballymun Partnership is to find structures and ways of operating that respect the community development dimension of its activities.

We believe community development to be a process that finds effective ways of working with residents, the local community & voluntary sector, state and private agencies to share responsibility and input into overall actions, whether they are in childcare, education, employment, housing, drugs etc.

Therefore, it is more useful to see the community development dimension of Ballymun Partnership as something that cross-cuts all areas of work for the Partnership, and that it does not stand-alone, but is an integral part of its core strategy to bring about a sustainable community. This means raising our own capacity as an organisation, as a partnership that brings people around the discussion table, and the capacity of the organisations and people we work with to bring about common goals.
