The Childcare Working Group was established in May 2004. Participants from the disbanded Childcare Taskforce were invited to become members of a Childcare Forum. Through the Parents Network there are now two parents representatives on the Childcare Working Group. Membership of the Childcare Working Group includes statutory agencies, community and national voluntary organisations, childcare providers and local parents.
The Childcare Working Group meets monthly ten times a year. Our activities involve developing local and national policy, promoting quality initiatives and developing an area-based childcare plan. This plan is being developed in the background of the largest regeneration in Europe and the propose 10 year strategy for children and young people and DCCC.
