By placing an entrepreneurial spirit in the centre, and revolving differing forms of entrepreneurship from second level education entrepreneurship to university entrepreneurship, from social entrepreneurship to main stream entrepreneurship, from thinking to acting entrepreneurially, how we can understand its importance in vibrant communities. Presentations made by local entrepreneurs involved in businesses reflected a 360o view of entrepreneurship.

The 360o Entrepreneurship Through Enterprise event, held in Ballymun Civic Offices demonstrated at Partnership level how supports are provided to promote a local entrepreneurial culture. Presentations by entrepreneurs gave an account of the individuals differing experience and objectives in establishing a business and what supports they received along the way. Paul Reid Store Manager of IKEA Ballymun was also on hand to accept a New Business Impact Award for their role in supporting community groups, and the principals of community development. Trinity Comprehensive students gave an account of establishing a business within a transition year business training programme, how successful their experience was, and their aspirations for the future. Enterprising Ballymun is a local initiative aimed at teaching valuable skills to transition year students to aid the development of viable businesses and further an entrepreneurial culture. The training programme is supported by the Partnership with N etwork For Teaching Entrepreneurship.

  Community is the Centre of Society

Key note speaker and one of Irelands leading entrepreneurs, Sean Gallagher of Dragons Den and founder of Smart Homes, gave a presentation on how the core values of community and community development are vitally important in the recovery of local economies and in local self confidence. That this renewed self confidence will act as a driver to a new national confidence. The key message in Seans presentation was that communities need to focus on the micro economy, achievable initiatives at a local level that can empower communities and lead by example in responding to a national crisis.
