An action packed Education Fair is taking place in Ballymun Civic Centre on Thursday 10th September 2009, from 9am-5pm. At 11am, the Fair will be officially opened by Minister for Lifelong Learning Sen Haughey TD with a Special Guest appearance by former Irish International Ray Houghton soccer pundit, Ambassador for the Football Association of Ireland and capped 73 times for Ireland. Ballymun Education Fair is organised by Ballymun Whitehall Area Partnership and aims to promote learning, education and training opportunities for both adults and young people of all ages right in the heart of their own community.
Meet with 40 organisations who will be giving out information on what they offer and that will be recruiting for their upcoming courses. One local resident spoke about last years Education Fair saying, I just did not know there were so many organisations working for the area. I was delighted to hear of so many and will avail of some. If you need advice on what direction to take your life or career in then the Adult Education Guidance Service of the VEC and Ballymun Job Centre Career Guidance will be on hand to sit with you and talk things over.
On top of all that a programme of demonstrations and entertainment will be provided to show visitors to Ballymun Education Fair some of the very real and exciting types of learning programmes that they can sign up to. Enjoy a guitar performance, learn some gardening techniques or sit for a manicure among other experiences that will be available on the day.
Almost everything showcased at Ballymun Education Fair happens in and around the Ballymun/Whitehall area and you can join in. So make it your business to drop in as you get on with life or on your way to or from work or the school run. Ballymun Education Fair is OPEN ALL DAY.
