Alex Sproule of Ballymun Active Disability Interest Group on behalf of the committee and members of the group would like to thank to all those who signed their names to the recent petition sent to Dublin City Council requesting the provision of pedestrian crossing facilities on Balbutcher Lane.

Over a 6 weeks period in May & June the members and friends of BADIG collected over 1,300 signatures from local residents in support of their petition for the urgent provision of pedestrian crossing facilities on the local road.

The campaign was also supported by a number of local, regional & national organizations including, the Ballymun Community Organisations Network, Ballymun Neighbourhood Council, the Disability Focus Group of Dublin Community Forum and The National Council for the Blind of Ireland.

The petition was sent to the City Manager, Mr. John Tierney, with a copy to Mr. Tim O`Sullivan, Executive Manager, Roads and Traffic. It was handed in person to Robert Banbrick in the Access Unit of Dublin City Council by BADIG members Claire Wheeler, Alex & Daphne Sproule, Liz Hartigan and Manus Bree (Ballymun Partnership).

The group is currently waiting for a positive response from City Manager and his colleagues in Dublin City Council.
