Ballymun Intercultural Group Promote Integration Through Information

On the 6th July Ballymun Intercultural Group in association with the Polish Cultural and Information Centre hosted an information session on driving safety in Ireland for Polish and Irish people. One of the objectives of the group is to organise opportunities to provide information for minority ethnic groups. This local initiative was developed as a positive response to a lot of negativity in the media around driver safety and as a means of engaging with new communities in Ballymun.

This was supported by the Road Safety Authority, Nifast, the Local Motor Tax Office and a member of the Garda Siochana. It was a successful evening with information available in Polish and also there was an interpreter present on the night. There was an opportunity to discuss the need for harmonisation with the different systems in Ireland. Everyone enjoyed the Polish snacks aswell. B.I.G hopes to develop the scope of their information events in the future.
