Fall and Recover is a night to remember in Axis, Ballymun

Fall and Recover is a dance piece choreographed by John Scott of Irish Modern Dance Theatre for 13 survivors of Torture from ten countries. The show came to the Axis Theatre, Ballymun on the final night of its tour on the 16th February. As well as bringing this very extraordinary story of determination through dance to Ballymun two local groups were supported from this night also, i.e. Ballymun Human Rights Project and Ballymun Intercultural Group. The numbers on the night were indicative of the support that exists for local groups and also the interest in this topic.

Information was available about both groups on the night and there was an opportunity for a post show discussion also. Both groups work locally to create awareness of the diverse communities living and working in Ballymun from a rights based approach. Some of the dancers spoke about their own experience of Ireland and this was very positive. One of the dancers is currently volunteering in the Ballymun community and this highlights a very local flavour to this intercultural event.
