The peoples band Aslan has generously given of their time to judge a Ballymun schools poster competition.
Aslan, who recently received a Lifetime Achievement award at the Meteor Awards 2005, awarded 17 winning students from eight local schools, in the Axis Centre in Ballymun on 23rd March 2005.
Billy McGuiness of Aslan said that the band were blown away by the talent and imagination shown by the students in their work and that the river of talent will never run dry as long there are kids like these using their creativity. The winners, their parents, teachers and classes were also treated to an exciting performance from the boy-band ZOO. The band was very keen to support the local winners by performing and giving freely of their time for the young people of Ballymun.
The posters were designed by the students with the help of a community artist to reflect how they see their future in Ballymun under the five categories of work of the Ballymun Partnership which includes: Community Development, Education, Childcare, Employment and Enterprise.
Declan Dunne, CEO of the Ballymun Partnership, thanked the winners and participating schools for their creativity and vision in designing their posters.
