Ten women from Finglas were awarded certified training in childminding in the Finglas/ Cabra Partnership recently. This training is part of the Quality Awareness Programme training funded by the Dublin City Childcare Committee. This training is available through the Dublin North West Childcare Resource Centre which, while based in the Ballymun Partnership offices in the Ballymun Shopping Centre, provides a service for Ballymun, Finglas, Glasnevin North, Whitehall and Santry.

The two day training programme was free of charge and was delivered By the Irish Pre-School Playgroups Association. Lisa Walsh, Manager of the Childcare Resource Centre says "we know that many parents and children rely on the services of childminders in Finglas. We also hope that childminders in these areas, including of course, grandmothers, neighbours, sisters, brothers etc, will participate in our childminding training in the future to become qualified in their area of expertise. We also aim to establish a network of childminders in the above areas to support and listen to childminders needs".

Further information on this course is available from the Dublin North West Childcare resource Centre, Tel: 8423612 or from Breda Kenny, Childcare co-ordinator, Finglas/Cabra Partnership Tel: 8361666.
