Ballymun Intercultural Group Acknowledge World Refugee Day

The Ballymun Partnership recently played host to a coffee morning organised by the Ballymun Intercultural group in acknowledgement of World Refugee Day.

A big crowd gathered in the Partnership to hear Itayi Vieri, from RTE's programme 'Mono', speak about his experiences as an asylum seeker and refugee living in Ireland. There was a questions and answers session facilitated by Ann Scully of the Irish Refugee Council and the Ballymun Intercultural group.

Children from both the Sophia Housing Project and the Aisling After schools project painted pictures depicting the theme of the day which was 'A Place to Call Home'. A number of children also got involved in the day by having their faces painted by the Community Arts Factory.

In attendance were members of the Herbert Street women's group who had recently paid a visit to Geraldstown House in Ballymun.
